Bird of the Day

Northern Cardinal

Northern Cardinal

On the blog, I will highlight a different bird every weekday.  The first one in the series will be one of the most recognized and popular birds in North America.  The Northern Cardinal is one of my all time favorites.  Its beautiful red feathers especially in the male and its car alarm call make it very easy to identify.  Here are some other fun facts about Cardinals:

-Cardinals are a nickname for two major professional sports teams- St Louis(MLB) and Arizona(NFL).
-Cardinals can live up to 15 years in the wild.
-Cardinals share their name with the Catholic priests who also wear red.

Tell us about your experience with the Cardinal in the comments and what you love about this bird?
